Mr. Randolph successfully negotiated a one-year county jail sentence for a client who had pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter involving a firearm. The client had been charged with first degree murder along with personal use of a handgun. At the outset, Mr. Randolph was able to get his client released on bail, despite spirited opposition from the District Attorney. During the next six months, utilizing results of a carefully coordinated investigation, Mr. Randolph was able to convince the prosecutors of weaknesses in their evidence along with substantial extenuating circumstances favorable to the defendant. The resulting plea allowed the defendant to serve his time and return to his wife and family, his landscaping business, and be present at his wife’s side for the birth of their third child.
